A friend lately asked me what to do on Oahu and where the best spots for food, ice cream, coffee and so on are. I started listing a few of my favorite places and now here they are, a few of the hidden and not-so-hidden gems on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu ;)
Hawaiian Crown Plantation

Situated in Waikiki, one would probably not recognize this gem in the first place. It’s a cute little shop from the inside, but you wouldn’t expect it from the outside
Hawaiian Crown Plantation has - in my opinion - the best acai bowls in Honolulu especially but not only because they put a lot of fruits on it, you can even get it served in a pineapple! Hawaiian Crown Plantation furthermore offers coffee, fresh juices and smoothies, dried fruits, banana bread and cookies, all served by really nice and kind people
Where? 159 Kaiulani Ave Ste 105 Honolulu, HI 96815
Duke’s
Very good place if you’re looking for breakfast in Waikiki. It is situated right at the beach and offers an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Duke’s is also very nice in the evening but gets pretty crowded on the weekends
Where? 2335 Kalakaua Ave Honolulu, HI 96815
Phone number (808) 922-2268
Food trucks north shore
Don’t get stuck with Giovanni’s shrimps, discover other food trucks! Of corse, Giovanni’s is well-known and easy to find but there are some more hidden ones right next to it which offer very good food and are not as expensive as Giovanni’s
Where?
56-505 Kamehameha Hwy Kahuku, HI 96731
Waialua Bakery
A bit hidden, you can’t really see it from the street, but once you found it you’ll love it!
It’s a really nice and colorful family-owned place, they bake everything themselves and take (almost) everything from their own little farm
You definitely have to try their banana bread- incredibly delicious! Waialua Bakery also offers great variety of fantastic sandwiches
Where?
66-200 Kamehameha Hwy Haleiwa, HI 96712
Phone number (808) 341-2838
Banán

Ice cream which is not really ice cream because it’s made of local-grown bananas and diary-free!
Their beach shack is also a bit hidden in Waikiki, it’s to be found in little street which leads to the beach and they’re open daily from 9am to 7pm
Where?
2301 Kalakaua Ave Honolulu, HI 96815
Phone number (808) 200-1640
Haleiwa Bowls
This little kiosk is located in Haleiwa at Oahu’s famous North Shore
They offer the best acai bowls you will find on the island, definitely worth a visit!
Think of bringing cash since they don’t accept any cards
Where?
66-030 Kamehameha Hwy Haleiwa, HI 96712
The sunrise shack

The sunrise shack is a small hut right next to the Kamehameha Hwy in direction to Haleiwa and not too hard to find since it is (fitting their name) painted completely yellow!
They offer a huge and delicious variety of coffee, fare-trade products, papaya bowls and more
Where?
59 Kamehameha Hwy Haleiwa, HI 96712
