Kauai (III)

As I mentioned in the last post, our third day on Kauai featured one of the things the island is most known for: the Waimea Canyon.

We followed the Highway from Kapa'a to Waimea and then turned into Kokee Rd which leads up the ridge of the Canyon. Once we reached the first lookout we just stopped wherever we thought the view was good. The weather was not too good, it was cloudy and windy but at least it didn't rain and someone told me it is always windy there.

After we had seen everything and drove down until the end of the canyon road we returned to Waimea via Waimea Canyon Dr and drove to the west of the island to Polihale State Park. As we found out this beach is only accessible through a road which is not really a road but sand, that made it a bit hard to get there for us and took us a while but when we got there it was absolutely worth it.

Later that day we looked for the colorful eucalyptus trees we saw on some pictures and actually found them in a park near Wailua river.

This was our last stop for the day and we returned to our hostel.
