Kauai (II)

On our second day on Kauai we decided to discover the north shore of the "Garden Island"- how locals call their lovely piece of heaven in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

So we got into our car and drove to Kilauea where we wanted to take a look at the lighthouse. Unfortunately it started raining just as we got there and the sky was all grey so we couldn't see it very well. We got into our car again and took the road to Hanalei, where the weather wasn't any better. Just when we decided to drive back to the Hostel because all our plans were made for good weather we were able to see a tiny bit of blue sky and were full of hope to find good weather in this direction. We followed the road further (there is basically just one main road on the Island which leads all around the island) until we got to Wainiha, Hanea and ended up at tunnels beach. The waves were crazy on this day and so we took some pictures of the water and hit the road again.

We made a couple of stops as we drove back in the direction of Princeville to take some pictures of the coast.

Our next stop took us to Kalihiwai where we looked for the tide pools.

Unfortunately, as I already mentioned, the waves and currents were pretty strong so we were not able to go to the pools and just stayed at the beach.

Afterwards, on our way back, we stopped by the lighthouse again to take some pictures since the weather got really good throughout the day.

This was our last stop for the day so we later returned to our Hostel and planned our next day which included the Waimea Canyon.
